Study Abroad (Direct-enrollment) Program for International Students (Fall 2017)


  1. Eligibility: Students must have finished at least two semesters at their home institution (bachelor’s

degree program) before they can apply for direct enrollment program at Sogang University.
  2. Application deadline: Friday, June 23th, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. (Korean time)
  3. Application process: Online application

1) Student sends the following information to the OIA via e-mail.

   * Required information: please send the following information to goabroad8@sogang.ac.kr

        a. semester you wish to apply for

          b. name of the home university

          c. number of semesters you have attended at your home university

          d. phone number (landline or mobile)

          e. e-mail address

2) The OIA creates a log-in account and informs the student by e-mail.

3) Student logs on to the website using their account, and uploads the required documents.

  4. Required documents

Please upload all of the following documents on the application website.
     1) Application Form (to be filled out online)
     2) Official academic transcript from home institution (photocopy)
     3) 1 recommendation letter from a faculty member at home institution (photocopy)

* Although the letter has no specific format, the document must bear the professor’s signature
     4) ID Picture (in JPG file): to be uploaded online
     5) A photocopy of Passport (ID side)
     6) Insurance Policy which covers whole period of your stay in Korea (i.e. insurance for study-abroad)


* If you wish to stay in Gonzaga dormitory, please upload the following documents.

7) Dormitory Application (scan and upload)        

8) Health Report Form (must contain TB test result)

   5. Tuition fee (as of year 2017)

1) Payment period: Student will be asked to pay tuition fee in Korean Won upon arrival.

2) Payment method: Print the tuition bill from the SAINT Portal (online) and pay at Woori bank ATM

or by Internet banking.

      3) If an applicant does not pay tuition within the deadline, the registered courses will be cancelled.

  6. Important dates for the 2017 fall semester

1) Classes begin on: September 1st, 2017

2) Course change period: September 4th to September 7th

3) Drop courses by: September 28th

4) Mid-term exams: October 23rd to 28th

5) Final exams: December 15th to 22nd

  7. Course Registration

Course registration period will be announced later. 

Please note that Study abroad students can take up to 15 credits for fall semester.
  Course list for Fall 2017 will be available around mid-July.

* You can browse the above website to find courses that were offered prior to Fall 2017.

  8. Others

1) Courses with less than 15 students registered may be cancelled.

2) If absences exceed 1/8 of the total course hours, the grade for the course will be resulted to an FA

(Failure because of Absences).

     3) To add/change courses, student should receive approval from the professor of the registered course,

After receiving approval, please submit the Course Change Form to the Office of International Affairs

 by September 5th. Course Change Form will be handed out on the orientation day.

4) To cancel courses students should complete the Course Drop Form which will be available at the Office

 of International Affairs, and submit it to the OIA by September 25th.

 5) Official Transcripts will be sent directly to home institution around the end of January 2018. If extra copies

of the transcripts are needed, please apply through the One-stop Service Center.
