2010 Neal S. Robinson retired.
2009 Pyong-Gwan Pak S.J. joined the faculty as Professor in the area of Christianity and Mysticism.
2008 Sung-Hae Kim retired.
2006 Neal S. Robinson joined the faculty as Professor in the area of Islamic Studies
Jong-Gu Park S.J. joined the faculty as Professor in the area of Christianity
2005 Bernard Senecal joined the faculty as Professor in the area of Buddhism
2003 Hee-Sung Keel retired.
Chae-Young Kim joined the faculty as Professor in the area of Theory of Religion
1999 The Graduate Program in Religious Studies at Sogang University participated in the Brain
Korea 21 project (1999-2001).
1998 The Institute for the Study of Religion was established.
1996 Theology Major was dropped entirely. The Department of Religious Studies was reorganized
with a faculty of three:
Hee-Sung Keel (Buddhism, Hinduism)
Sung-Hae Kim (Confucianism? Daoism) Seong-Nae Kim (Korean Religion, Anthropology of Relgion)
1989 The Ph.D. program in Religious Studies was officially launched.
1985 The M.A. program in Religious Studies was officially launched.
1984 The Institute for the Study of Religion and Theology was established.
1981 The Department of Religious Studies was established. Theology Major was included.
