Human network chip

 

The research of cell chip was started to understand the mechanism of drug screening on cells in vivo environment. However there's a limitation to realize human-like organ due to the difference between in vitro and in vivo environment. Therefore our group is trying to mimic human organ for studying the mechanism of the drug effect on human. Our group’s final goal in this research is the development of human network chip which can provide the chance for the drug screening of human organ in vitro.

 

 

Integrated Nanotechnological Mimicry in Human Organ for Searching the Pathology of the Incurable Disease

The Human network chip is a term derived from ‘organ on a chip system’ for integrating the manufactured organ system based on the microfluidics technique. Organ on a chip, based on the microfluidic cell culture, simulate the mechanical and physiological response of the organ system. As mentioned above, the human network chip is the integration of the each organ and manipulation of the human-like network for understanding the organic mechanism. Building valid simulated organs requires not only a precise cellular control, but a detailed understanding of the human body’s fundamental complex response to any condition.

The project of human network chip requires two clear goals. First, our team try to develop the 3 dimensional organ structure in microchip to utilize the function of the human tissue. Furthermore, we attempt to comprehend the principles of drug delivery and related mechanism by using the microfluidic chips. The consequences followed by this project could be significant for tissue engineering for neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson’s disease.
