제목 : Black hole microstates in string theory
I will explain one of the biggest motivations for the study of string theory; microstates of black holes. Black holes are objects from which even light cannot escape, and therefore we cannot “look" into them. They are known to have a thermodynamic entropy whose statistical mechanical origin is still to be explained. String theory is the most promising theory to give such an explanation. In this colloquium, I will explain how string theory reproduces the entropy of black holes using D-branes, and then discuss some recent progress via supersymmetric quantum field theories on D-branes.
